Safety & Training
Abbeydale Building and Civils are proud to achieve an award from FEM for excellence in safety in the workplace. This award confirms our commitment to safety, and acknowledges our company in striving towards an uncompromising safety record, and a safe working environment for all our staff.
We congratulate our health and safety department, Searen Sadapal, Rohan Ramphul and Michael Kabu, as well as all of our site staff for this outstanding achievement."
FOURWAYS COMMERCIAL - LONGLAND RETAIL PROJECT
Abbeydale worked closely with Com-Prac Holdings as external Safety Consultants and are proud to have achieved a zero lost time injury rating throughout the year of 2009 on the Longland Commercial and Retail Project, at Monte Casino Boulevard, Fourways
The project start date was 13 January 2009 completed by 28 February 2010. A total of 261523 man hours was put in with 23 Sub-contractors assisting Abbeydale on site.
This is an exceptional achievement considering that this was a 5 storey, multi-tenanted project.
Team work, dedication and priority on safety were acknowledged and a Safety Award was given to Abbeydale by the client's safety adviser.
The management and employees of Abbeydale agree and declare that:
Injuries and accidents can be prevented and health and safety risks can be controlled. We commit ourselves to achieving this.
We are all equally responsible for implementing health and safety measures. Every employee must take reasonable care to protect his/her own health and safety, and ensure adherence to standards and conditions to provide for a safe working environment without undue risk to the health of any employee. Adherence to health and safety measures and this policy is a condition of employment. Both management and employees acknowledge that no adherence will not and must not be tolerated.
Employees must be trained to identify the hazards associated with their jobs and must report any hazards so as to ensure work can take place in a safe and healthy environment. Employees must use and take proper care of protective equipment.
Audits are very important to identify substandard health and safety practices, conditions and deficiencies, and all the non-compliances must be corrected promptly.
The health and safety of contractors and suppliers who could be affected by building operations is equally important.
This health and safety policy must be adhered to. The joint health and safety committee must review the policy at intervals determined by it in the interests of the company and its stakeholders.
